Hats for Heroes
Hats for Heroes are handknit hats, by Miriam, with 100% of the profits going to charity.
I handknit each hat, and add trims, buttons and details, making each one unique. No two are ever the same.
Once I knit a hat, it will be available here in my shop and , once sold, all of the profit from it will go to the charities mentioned. I am supporting the Dementia and Stroke unit at Tullamore hospital with 100% of the profits from these handknits.
In early 2022, my Dad suffered a stroke which has led to complications, and him having to have long term care. the staff and unit at Tullamore Hospital gave him exceptional care, and this year any funds I raise will go to The Friends of Tullamore Hospital, and the Stroke and Dementia unit there, a charity making the lives of the patients more comfortable, and always improving their work.
He has since had other strokes, and while nothing can be done for them, it is vitally important to us as a family, that he is receiving the best care and attention possible. It gives me great comfort to be able to support the hospital, just as they did us in our time of need.
In time I will also donate to Cancer charities, as it is very close to my heart, loosing a number of close friends to it of late.
I have called my shop Hats For Heroes, because Dad is my hero, as is anyone who is dealt such a blow, and must deal with it with dignity and fight the battle odf their lives. He always wore a hat, it was kind of his uniform. Plus as a hat keeps you warm and snug, so is a comfort too. At the most difficult times of our lives, we need comfort!
I look forward to you having a Hat For The Hero in your life, maybe as a gift, or to brighten someone’s day. Who is your hero? Someone battling a long term illness, someone fighting a silent battle, is it someone who has been a hero to you in your time of need? Maybe buy them a hat here as a gift, it will brighten their day and help a good cause at the same time.
All hats are sold through www.wicklowmarketplace.ie/hats-for-heroes
