This is an itajime dyed silk scarf. This means the silk was sandwiched together with two wooden blocks as a resist. If you look closely you will see the blocks are piggys ! The scarf was dyed a pink colour before
it was put between the wooden blocks. It was then over dyed in blue.
The wonderful pastel blue/pink silk scarf was carefully dyed by the itajime dyeing technique, where wooden blocks are used as a resist. In this case the wooden blocks are pigs ! But you have to look very close to see them. The feel of the silk is luxurious against the skin and has a lovely sensous feel to it.
